About Ty Love
Founder and CEO
I am a seasoned publishing professional with over a decade of experience helping writers shape books that matter. I've worked on 18 New York Times bestsellers and two Oprah Book Club selections, as well as with countless debut authors for the last half-a-lifetime. My work spans developmental editing, proposal writing, fiction workshops, and author coaching, with a focus on voice, structure, and depth.
Before launching Edge of August, I worked at one of the top literary agencies in the U.S., Idea Architects, where I supported bestselling authors and thought leaders including Jane Goodall (The Book of Hope), Stephen Hawking (Brief Answers to the Big Questions), Suzanne Simard (Finding the Mother Tree), Bill Burnett & Dave Evans (Designing Your Life), and Anthony Ray Hinton (The Sun Does Shine). That foundation gave me a deep understanding of both the art and business of books—and a lasting belief in their power to change minds and lives.
Today, I works primarily with fiction writers—especially those writing fantasy, speculative, and literary fiction—and take on select nonfiction projects with the right spark. Truthfully, SFF has always been where my heart is, and the fact I get to spend my days immersed in new worlds and stories makes me happy every single day. In addition to my work here, I also partner with KN Literary Arts and Lauren Kay Writes as a Founding Developmental Editor. I'm known for being both clear-eyed and encouraging, offering thoughtful feedback that helps authors push their work to the next level without losing what makes it theirs. Writers who work with me often say they feel seen, challenged, and creatively re-energized.
Tl;DR: The most important part of all of this is that I think I have the best job in the world, and I can help you get your story closer to where you want it to be—whether that's going for a traditional publishing deal at one of the Bigs, or carving your own path with self-publishing. I'm here to help!
Based in Amsterdam.

By far the most thorough and insightful professional I have worked with in the publishing arena. I will use him again and again and again. The communication and collaboration were just as seamless and comfortable as having a cup of coffee with a trusted friend.

Ty was extremely helpful throughout out collaboration, he provided great ideas, was extremely responsive and always ready to meet up. Our collaboration pushed my writing further and gave me significant insight into the publishing industry. All around, couldn't recommend Ty more.

What I Do
At Edge of August Editorial, I offer a range of tailored editorial services designed to elevate your writing and bring your vision to life. From comprehensive editorial assessments to detailed developmental edits, author coaching, and more, I’m here to support you whether you’re starting your first book or refining a manuscript for the hundredth time.
Writing can be tough, and isolating, and even the best authors you know work with someone to get their writing where it needs to be. So you don't have to go it alone! Oftentimes we feel we are too close to the work, and we're not sure if we're making things better or just moving things around. It can feel like there's so much to do but you're just not sure where to start. Or you've got a great story, you think, there's just something missing.
That's where I come in. I can assess key elements like Plot, Worldbuilding, Character, Tone & Style, Structure, and Voice to get your book ready for securing that lit agent, publishing it yourself, or just to share with your friends and family with your head held high. I believe that every writer has a unique voice waiting to be discovered, and my keen eye for detail ensures that your story is told just the way you envision it.
I also offer free sample edits (up to 5,000 words) so you can see what you're getting before you decide to work with me. It's important that you decide whether you resonate with the kinds of feedback I can offer (as with any editor) before you move forward, and I'm happy to show my particular style.

Odessa K., YA Fantasy
Ty is a gem, his feedback and ideas are brilliant. You will not be disappointed, and should definitely use him!
Steven L., Literary Fiction
I really valued Ty's chapter by chapter comments as a reader before the more in depth editorial feedback in terms of plot, character development, tone and pace. He has given me a fresh impetus and inspiration to make my manuscript the best it can possibly be. Thank you Ty.
Joe G., Adult Fantasy
This was my second collaboration with Ty and it was equally as professional and enlightening as the first. This time having seen how much better the book is, I am thrilled. I applaud Ty's attention to detail and keeping the story on point.
Why "Edge of August"?
Edge of August is named for that threshold between seasons—the last blaze of summer, when imagination runs free, and the first pull of fall, with its sharpened pencils and serious work ahead.
As a kid, that shift meant trading in long afternoons of play for new notebooks and discipline. I’m not a kid anymore, but that edge still speaks to me. The feeling of fresh notebooks, new pens and pencils, brimming with potential (yes, I was one of those kids who loved taking tests. Sue me.).
As an adult, it’s become the place I choose to work from: the meeting point of starry-eyed creativity and clear-eyed determination.
That’s what I offer writers at Edge of August—a space that honors play, but insists on progress. Where stories can run wild and then find their shape.
